Our latest video of the month demonstrates how EV’s Optis R150 helped an operator in New Zealand to understand and overcome the cause of declining production in one of their geothermal wells.

To diagnose the cause of production loss, the operator needed to recover a quarter-inch capillary tubing that was used to deliver antiscalant chemicals into the well. However the capillary tubing broke during the recovery process and created a fish within the well. This left the operator not only questioning the cause of reduced production but also the best method of recovering the fish.

Optis Technology

As the majority of geothermal production wells can reach extreme temperatures, it is crucial that the diagnostic tool required can an operate in these conditions. EV's Optis R150 camera technology works in up to 150 degrees Celsius, this limits the quenching requirements prior to deployment, thereby minimizing total operating time and reducing the risk of structural damage to the well.
