This Video of the Month is from an oil producer well. The operator experienced multiple fish in hole which cost them to shut in the well due to safety issue. To investigate further, the client decided to deploy EV's Optis® HD E-line camera on an electric line unit, enabling high quality video to be acquired in real time mode.

First, the operator decided to run a Lead Impression Block, which returned to surface with unknown mark impression. After seeing the impression, the Operator was not satisfied the results were conclusive and wanted a visual answer to identify what the obstruction was down hole. EV were called in as an urgent service to give a clear answer. EV’s HD Electric line camera images up to 25 frames per second in real-time offer a high level of visual detail and a clear understanding of downhole wellbore issues

The video footage clearly show the first top of rope socket stuck on the tubing wall.  High quality down view video instantly showed oil buble flowing up at the high side of the tubing. Then, the camera able to pass through the first rope socket and observe the second fish in the middle of the tubing. Motor section was activated to get the better view of the second rope socket.

This case study illustrates how EV’s Video allowed the customer to provide the operator with conclusive evidence of fish position and completion condition, thus enabling decisive action to be taken. The information proves valuable for next fishing plan whereby the operator successfully retrieve both of the fish.
