This case study comes from an operation in Caribbean Sea where the application of SandVA, supported by Optis Infinity technology, helped an operator to identify the source of sand in-flow in one of their high-rate gas production wells.
The well experienced a sudden increase in particle counts on a surface sand detection system, and material recovered from the solids separation system confirmed this to be sand flowing in the production stream, indicating a failure of the well’s sand control system.
To ensure safe operation was maintained, the well was choked back to achieve sand-free production at surface. However, this resulted in a significant decline in economic performance and quickly prompted planning for remediation.
Watch the video to see how EV's Optis Infinity Camera was run in memory mode on slickline to provide detailed visual evaluation of the sand control screens.
